If you suffer from overwhelming dental anxiety or phobia, IV Sedation may be the solution. You can finally stop putting off those visits to the dentist that you've been avoiding because of your fears. With safe and effective intravenous sedation, you'll be completely relaxed during the entire procedure. You can even catch up on years of unfinished dentistry in just one or two appointments.
We have been providing IV Sedation dental services for 25 years. Most general dentistry procedures can be accomplished while you are sedated. Some of the reasons our patients choose to be sedated are due to:
- dental anxiety
- fear of needles
- difficulty with opening due to jaw joint problems
- severe gag reflex
- difficulty getting "numb"
- long appointments
- difficulty laying still in a dental chair due to a bad back, restless leg sydrome, Parkinson's and other causes
- certain medical conditons which make it difficult for you to have your dental care done
- bad past experiences
A Sedative medication is given to you in small increments until you are comfortably sedated. A patch containing a "numbing" agent can be placed on your arm if needed to make the IV more comfortable for you. You can have a warm blanket and listen to your favorite music during the procedure to help you feel more at ease. The sedative medication has an amnesic side effect too. You will have little memory of your dental visit which is a great benefit for you. A family member or friend will drive you home after your appointment. Most of our patients rest the remainder of the day.
Please call our office for more information on how IV Sedation can benefit you.
We also provide General Dentistry procedures without sedation. Another option for those just a little afraid is the use of Nitrous Oxide Gas, sometimes described as laughing gas.
I have co-authored a book which is a great educational tool for you if you are planning on having any extensive dental care done. I explain how you can benefit from IV Sedation and how important your dental care is in relation to your overalll health. The book can be purchased at Amazon.com..

News article...There are bacteria associated with gingivitis and periodontal disease. Some of these bacteria are transmissable and tissue invasive. These bacteria cause local and systemic inflammation as well. The Oral - Systemic Inflammatory link can be an added risk factor in some diseases. For instance, Cardiovascular Disease has a strong inflammatory component to it's development and progression. Periodontal Diseases is independently associated with Cardiovascular Disease due to it's systemic inflammatory effect as well. So, you can reduce one of the independent risk factors of cardiovascular disease by maintaining optimal oral health. Brush and floss properly every day and use an antimicrobial mouthwash. See your dentist and dental hygienist for your supportive dental care visits.
We also kknow that the bacteria in the mouth are associated with other systemic disseases such as dementia, Alzheimer's, some cancers, arthritis and more.
There is a test available to detect some of these hidden dangers. Wouldn't you like to knowif you have any of these deadly bacteria in your mouth?
